Interview with Danica Winters, Author of Curse of the Wolf

Today I’m interviewing Danica Winters, author of Curse of the Wolves. Welcome, Danica! Let’s get right to it.

I like to get to know a authors behind the scenes. Please share with us something that readers would be surprised to learn about you.
I’m an outdoorsy girl, I like to fish, hike, and generally be outside. It’s hard to blend my desire to play with the need to write, yet every day I find time to write at least a thousand words on whatever project I’m working on. As of late, I’ve jumped up my quota to two thousand words a day and a blog. This summer I haven’t done much fishing .

I don’t fish, but I can certainly relate to the pull of writing:) What are you currently working on?
I’ve finished another Veela book, a vampire novella, and am working on a new series as we speak. I’m hoping to see these works out by the end of the year.

You’re a very productive writer. Can you tell us a little about your newest release that isn’t in the blurb?
In Curse of the Wolf, my main character, Gloriana Canis, is in search of revenge. Her lover, Baldur Aesir, has been killed for a talisman which is highly sought after by the non-immortal communities that surround them. After a year of mourning, a pack of mercenary-like Werewolves invade her territory in search of the Vitam Aeternam ring Baldur’s murderer left behind. Yet, they severely underestimate their opponent, and Gloriana’s deep seated desire to avenge Baldur’s death.

In my novel, there are unexpected turns, friendships made, and strange worlds explored. It is a story with steamy love scenes and an ending that will leave you wanting more. Yet, the most interesting aspect of Curse of the Wolf is the underlying Veela Curse—if Gloriana falls in love the man is fated to die a tragic and merciless death. I can’t tell you how fun it was to write this book—the research I put into writing this book was incredible.

Writing is hard work. If it wasn’t fun, we wouldn’t stick with it. Do think the romance books will ever go “out of style”?
Absolutely not. Romance is a genre that will always exist. Romance itself drives us, keeps us up at night, makes us dream, and helps us to escape the grind of the average day—and the genre gives those who live for romance all of these things. The way we write and market romance novels may change, but the need to create love will always be central to this genre. It’s why I love writing it.

What’s your paranormal element of choice?
I have to say, that I don’t concentrate on one aspect of paranormal—right now I’m working on Veela/Shape-shifter novels, but the next series will be incredibly different, there will be no shifters or typical paranormal characters. When I begin working I start from a feeling. I ask myself: Does this kernel idea give me the chills? Is it enough to make me want to read the book? If it is, then I write the story, if not, I put the idea away. Paranormal is a fun genre. It is so different from the other styles within Romance. It is a genre where you are only limited by the constraints of your imagination instead of the realms of reality. I love it!

And that right there is why your readers love your books. They recognize the passion. Alright, one last question. What is your favorite Quote?
“My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest.” (Charles Dickens, David Copperfield)

I love that quote! Thank you for sharing taking the time to visit my blog today. Read on the learn more about Curse of the Wolf.

Curse of the Wolf
By Danica Winters
Blurb:
For cursed, shape-shifting Veela, Gloriana, following her heart and giving her body to sexy, tortured werewolf Alexander means one thing-he will die and it will again be her fault.

Once only a man, Alexander finds himself scarred by the memories of his former life and the deceptions and lies that surround him. When a glimmer of light breaks the madness, he must let go of his misguided preconceptions and the hatred that consumes him.

On a mission for blood, they find unity in their desire for revenge, but are driven apart by their pasts. Traveling the darkest paths and fighting the very people they think they can trust, they draw closer to one another’s hearts and further into danger.

Will the curse prove to be unstoppable… or is there hope in forbidden love?
